The swamp donated a record $107 million for Trump's inaugural, and still Obama had larger crowds

Yesterday The New York Times reported corporations, special interests and lobbyists --that is, "the swamp" Donald Trump talked about during the 2016 campaign-- donated a record breaking $107 million dollars for Trump's inaugural, twice as much as Obama's $53 million for his 2009 inauguration.

Today, the NYT added another piece of information to that report: conservative billionnaire Sheldon Adelson donated $5 million dollars to Trump's inaugural, the largest individual donation by far.

The report also mentioned the following:

...much of the money [for the inaugural] came from the industries that have traditionally excelled at wielding Washington influence: telecommunications, tobacco and pharmaceutical giants, which have bankrolled presidential inaugurations for Republicans and Democrats alike. And a generous amount came from people who had been hostile to his candidacy.

Yup. That's the swamp. And it includes:

Coal industry billionaire Joseph W. Craft III
The parent company of R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company
Robert Mercer, the billionaire investor and close ally of Stephen K. Bannon
Coca-Cola
Microsoft
Intel
Google
Bank of America
Boeing
Verizon
Comcast
AT&T

They all gave $1 million dollars or more for Trump's inaugural.

And so far some of them are getting a lot back from Trump at the expense of the American public. Trump signed into law legislation that allows telecommunication companies to sell users' internet browsing data and Coal companies can now pollute water sources.

Yup. That's the swamp. Trump criticized it in 2016 and claimed he was against that type of donations, but it was a lie. As soon as he got in power, he became the largest White House recipient of swamp money in history.

Oh, but even though Trump got all that money for his inauguration, Barack Obama had a far larger crowd.
