DAY 79: Trump has to explain why wasn't the runway at the Syrian air base hit by missiles

Donald Trump tweeted this today:

The tweet probably refers to comments on the satellite images of the Syrian air base hit by less then half of the missiles launched by Trump supposedly in retaliation against the chemical attack by Bashar al-Assad. In the images, the runways

Well, satellite photos published by the Daily Mail in fact do show that the runways were not touched. The targets were workshops, aircraft shelters, fuel storages and ammunition storages. And the big aircraft hangars weren't really destroyed, however.

And what was hit by missiles, quite frankly, is fairly easy to rebuild too. As per the planes, fuel and ammo, all of that can be bought back. Putin can provide it for a price, of course.

So let's do a recap:

1. Trump calls Russia and tells them ahead of time he's going to launch missiles to the Syrian air base.

2. Trump launches 59 missiles. The US Navy claims all but 1 hit the targets but Russia claims only 23 actually hit the air base.

3. According to CNN, photos of the aftermath of the attack show about 20 planes destroyed, which Assad can replace quickly (provided by Putin, of course) and whatever was hit is actually pretty easy to replace. It's just concrete.

4. While the infrastructure is replaced, the runways can still be used and the planes can still be fueled with mobile units.

That is why, apparently, Trump is now trying to defend a missile attack that was more for show that for actual impact.
