DAY 82: Trump lies about Toyota investing in Kentucky because of him

This is something Donald Trump has lied about in the past, but today Trump said it out loud, with cameras present, claiming that without him "winning" the presidency Toyota would not had innouced a $1.3 billion dollar investment on a production plant in Kentucky. CNBC's Steve Kopack caught Trump's lie and pointed out in Twitter Toyota has been investing billions of dollars in the US every 5 years:

But there's more.

First of all, the investment will not create a single job in Kentucky. The investment is for upgradint the plant's equipment and facilites so it can improve production.

Second, Toyota told The New York Times its investment decision had nothing to do with Trump.

As per the investment itself, it is ineeded part of a 5-year plan Toyota had in advance. In fact, Toyota has invested $20 billion dollars in the US over the past 60 years. In fact, in 2015 Toyota announced a 5-year shares plan to improve their investment in research and development.

AND, it's not like Toyota doesn't invest a lot in the US. According to Toyota itself, 2 out of ever 3 dollars Toyota spends in North America are spent in the United States over the last 20 years.

So not only Trump lied about Toyota investing only because he "won" the presidency, but there was no need to brag anyway, since Toyota was already investing most of its money in the US since 1996 anway.

Oh, and by the way: Also according to Toyota, the Japanese automaker was the smallest importer of vehicles from Mexico in 2016. So all those threats Trump pade against Toyota were based on nothing. Which proves that, in reality, Trump has NO CLUE about how the economy works.
