According to The New York Times, the incident took place during an event of female businesswomen in which Ivanka Trump said the following:
“[Donald Trump is] a tremendous champion of supporting families and enabling them to thrive.”
The booing and the hissing took place right after that.
The moderator of the event, Miriam Meckel, then told the following to Ivanka Trump's face:
“You hear the reaction from the audience. I need to address one more point. Some attitudes toward women your father has displayed might leave one questioning whether he’s such an empowerer for women.”
Ouch.
But Ivanka Trump only made it worse by saying this:
“I’ve certainly heard the criticism from the media, that’s been perpetuated.”
That made the people in the audience laugh at her.
...leading to laughter from some of the people at the conference.
You know what's the worst part about this entire incident? The fact that Ivanka Trump doesn't seem to care. THAT is what being complicit it all about.
