Trump made it more difficult for highly skilled foreigners to get work visa, and tourism sunk

Two news stories that should show just how damaging Donald Trump is for the US economy. First, he made it more difficult for highly skilled foreigners to get work visas. According to Reuters:

The Trump administration is making it more difficult for skilled foreigners to work in the United States, challenging visa applications more often than at nearly any point in the Obama era, according to data reviewed by Reuters.

The more intense scrutiny of the applications for H-1B visas comes after President Donald Trump called for changes to the visa program so that it benefits the highest-paid workers, though he has not enacted any such reforms.

Data provided by U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services shows that between Jan. 1 and Aug. 31, the agency issued 85,000 challenges, or “requests for evidence” (RFEs), to H-1B visa petitions - a 45 percent increase over the same period last year. The total number of H-1B petitions rose by less than 3 percent in the same period.

Which means tech companies can't get the highly skilled labor they need to grow the American economy.

DAY 226: Trump wants your pension plan to pay for a tax cut for the rich

According to Politico, Donald Trump's finance team, which is basically people from Goldman Sachs, came up with the idea of taxing the middle class's 401(k) pension plans in order to pay for a tax cut for the rich. From the Politico article:

One idea quietly being discussed would be taxing the money that workers place into their 401(k) savings plans up front: an idea that would raise billions of dollars in the short-term and is pulled from the Camp plan. This policy idea is widely disliked by budget hawks, who consider it a gimmick; the financial services industry that handles retirement savings; and nonprofits that try to encourage Americans to save.

The short seller investor who spotted the demise of Enron said Donald Trump's infrastructure plan is "fake fiscal news" that will not work.

In an interview, investor Jim Chanos said the reason why Trump's plan won't work is because Trump wants public-private partnerships for infrastructure projects, but that will only work for some small projects, not for the major projects the United States needs.

Trump tries to change the subject away from Comey 3 times... and fails

Donald Trump tried three times today to change the subject and distract people away from the James Comey firing scandal.

First, he tried to change the subject to his tax returns, saying in an interview with The Economist that he might release them AFTER he leaves office.

In the same intereview, Trump claims he invented the term "Prime the Pump", which ins in reality an economics term used since the 19th century. Which is unexplainable if we consider Trump has a degree in economics. Is that fake too?

Those two items made some noise, but not enough to distrect from Comey.

Trump's tax plan would save HIM tens of millions of dollars

While Donald Trump's tax plan would be terrible for independent workers and freelancers, as it eliminates many itemized deductions freelancers rely on, his tax plan would actually save Trump tens of millions of dollars in taxes.

DAY 99: The US economy had its worst quarter in 3 years with Donald Trump

Early today the Commerce Department released data on showing the American economy grew a measly 0.7% in the first quarter of 2017 (January, February and March), misssing economists' forecasts that the economy would grow 1% in the first quarter.

Barack Obama's last full quarter in office (October, November and December) saw a growth 2.5%, and the quarter before that (July, August, September) saw a growth of over 3%.

But with Trump, who was in office over a third of the first quarter, the economy took a nosedive.

Ironically, despite Trump's attacks against imports, imports actually increased.

And that's not all.

DAY 97: Trump claims his tax cut plan is the biggest in history, but it isn't

Today the Trump administration officially unveiled its tax reform proposal, claiming it would be the biggest tax cut in history.

But that's a double lie because, to start, it isn't a tax reform, but a tax cut, since it has no provisions to close loopholes nor to recover money to pay for the tax cuts it does contain, mainly for the richest Americans and corporations. And second of all, it isn't the biggest tax cut in history either. According to The New York Times, the biggest tax cuts in the history of the United Sates happened during the administration of Warren G. Harding, Calvin Coolidge, John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan.

Then on April 25, Sean Spicer claimed that Trump had "created" 500,000 jobs, 100,000 less than what Trump claimed.

But CNN did the math and exposed Trump and Spicer for lying about the amount of jobs created.

Trump admits he lied about China, and then makes the US Dollar drop in value

Trump managed today to admit he lied about China and to decrease the value of the US Dollar in a single interview with The Wall Street Journal.

First he said China is not a currency manipulator, thus admitting he lied during the 2016 campaign when said the opposite. Why? Because he claims saying they are currency manipultors could jeorpardize talks about North Korea, which is false as there is no official position by China on North Korea.

But the worst part was this; Trump literally said:

Employment didn't meet expectations; Jobs that grew were mostly beacuse of Obamacare

This morning the Department of Labor released its numbers for jobs created in March of 2017. 98,000 jobs were created, a number well below the numbers economists expected.

And unemployement went down a measely 0.2%. But guess what? One of the reasons why unemployement went down and jobs were created was Obamacare.
