TRUMP LOSES: Federal Judge extends block against Trump's second Muslim ban

Hawaii Federal Judge Derrick Watson extended the block to Donald Trump's second Muslim ban after hearing arguments from the Trump administration in which Department of Justice lawyer Chad Readler asked the Judge to narrow his block to the issuing of visas to people from 6 Muslim countries, and leave the refugee ban in place.

According to The New York Times, Judge Watson refused and responded that the ban on refugees was also motivated by racial bias.

The judge noted that the government said 20 refugees were resettled in Hawaii since 2010.

“Is this a mathematical exercise that 20 isn’t enough? ... What do I make of that?” the judge asked Mr. Readler.

The government lawyer replied that 20 is simply a small number of refugees.

“In whose judgment?” Judge Watson asked.

So the Trump administration clearly knew the second Muslim ban was also illegal, but they wanted the refugee ban in place in order to score political points, not because it was necessary. And apparently the Judge saw through the Trump administration's bullshit, so instead of unblocking the Muslim ban, he extended it.

An appeals court will review the Trump administration's appeal to the Muslim ban block on May 8.
