Big announcement by Ford today. Major investment to be made in three Michigan plants. Car companies coming back to U.S. JOBS! JOBS! JOBS!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) March 28, 2017
He was referring to an investment plan Ford had announced back in 2015, when Barack Obama was president (thus it has nothing to do with Trump). But as it turned out, the plan would only create... less than 130 jobs.
According to CNBC:
Ford gave more specifics of its U.S. investment plan Tuesday, saying it will put $1.2 billion into three Michigan plants, planning to create or retain 130 jobs at one of those facilities. About $350 million of that total — including $200 million for a data center — is new, Joe Hinrichs, Ford's president for the Americas, told CNBC.
"Create of retain" 130 jobs.
So less than 130 jobs will be created.
That was Trump's "big announcement" that turned out to be a flop.
