And now, Trump lies about insurance across state lines and drug prices

Twice this morning Donald Trump lied about health care. First, in obvious reference to the fact that the Republicans finally made public their plan to repeal Obamacare, Trump said the following about selling insurance across state lines:

But that's a lie. The federal government can't erase state lines. It would be a violation of the US Constitution, giving the states the right to regulate the insurance market within their borders.

On top of that, selling insurance across state lines is already legal, but not a single insurance plan has been sold across state lines because, one, insurers from one state do not have the networks in other states, and two, each states has different regulations that the federal government can't legally repeal.

Then he said this:

Which is also a lie. Trump can't do that because of the patents for drugs. When a drug maker has a patent for a drug, the patent prohibits competitors from making a similar, generic or biosimiliar drug for YEARS. That guarantees a monopoly for drug makers that sometimes they expand by buying companies that make competing generics.

And there's NO WAY Trump will be able to change that. Much less when a few weeks ago Trump said he won't put price caps on drugs.

So no, Trump won't lower prices for drugs at all. He's just lying in order to appear like he's governing when in reality he has no clue.
