FACT CHECK: Trump gets caught lying about his electoral college victory... Twice... In public

Before announcing his new nominee for Secretary of Labor in a press conference, Donald Trump bragged about his electoral college count being the largest of any electoral college wins since Ronald Reagan. But a reporter told him that was not true. Trump 304 electoral college count is the largest since... Barack Obama's 2012 win with 332 electoral college votes.

Then Trump tried to fix his lie by saying he meant his was the biggest electoral college win by a Republican since Reagan. But the reporter told him that's not true either. The biggest electoral win since Reagan goes to George H.W. Bush with 426 electoral college votes in 1988.

According to USA Today, Trump's response was this:

"I was given that information. We had a very, very big margin."

To which NBC reporter Peter Alexander responded:

"Why should Americans trust you when you accused the information they've received of being fake when you're providing information that's not accurate?"

To which Trump replied:

"Well, I don't know. I was given that information. Actually, I've seen that information around. But it was a very substantial victory, do you agree with that?"

Actually, no it isn't.

Here are the electoral college results from all of the presidents since Ronald Reagan:

1988: George H.W. Bush: 426
1992: Bill Clinton: 370
1996: Bill Clinton: 379
2000: George W. Bush: 271
2004: George W. Bush: 286
2008: Barack Obama: 365
2012: Barack Obama: 332
2016: Donald Trump: 304

Which means Trump has the third LOWEST electoral college result since Reagan. And that's out of 8 presidential elections since Reagan.

By the way: The average electoral college result for a presidential winner starting in 1900 is 387 votes. Meaning Trump is WAY below average.

In fact, of the 58 presidential elections the United States has had since George Washington, Trump's electoral college win ranks at number 46.

And Trump is the one accusing the Media of publishing fake news?

Oh, and in case you want to see the actual video of Trump lying about his electoral college count, here it is:
