Give the public a break - The FAKE NEWS media is trying to say that large scale immigration in Sweden is working out just beautifully. NOT!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) February 20, 2017
Well, not only Sweeden debunked Trump's claims, but they also debunked the Fox News report Trump's claim is based on.
Because, you see, according to The New York Times, the Fox News report was based on interviews conducted by Ami Horowitz, an AMERICAN filmmaker of a couple of Sweedish police officers who supposedly said there was an increase in crime in Sweeden. But there's one problem with those interviews: They were heavily edited to make it LOOK like they were supporting the American filmmaker's claim of an increase in crime in Sweeden because of immigration. I quote from The New York Times:
The Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter on Monday quoted two police officers interviewed by Mr. Horowitz, Anders Goranzon and Jacob Ekstrom, saying that the filmmaker had selectively edited and distorted their comments to prove his thesis in a video he posted on YouTube. They said Mr. Horowitz had asked them about high-crime neighborhoods, and that they did not agree with his argument about the link between migration and crime.
“This is bad journalism,” Mr. Goranzon said. Mr. Horowitz did not respond to a request for comment.
So not only Trump is repeating a lie, but he is repeating a lie Fox News fabricated for the consumption of the Republican audience. And with some actual journalism, both, Trump and Fox News, are now being exposed as liars.
