DAY 241: Steve Miller suppressed report showing refugees contribute more in taxes than they cost the US

According to The New York Times, Donald Trump's advisor Steve Miller suppressed a report by the Department of Health and Human Services showing that refugees actually contribute more to the US in taxes than what they cost to taxpayers.

The net difference between the cost of refugees to the US and what they contribute to the US in taxes is 63 billion dollars more in taxes than what the refugees receive from public funds.

But Steve Miller, according to the NYT, suppressed the fiscal benefit from the report and only allowed one figure to be shown: the cost of about $1,000 more than the average American in taxpayer dollars.

This is what the NYT published about it:

Mr. Miller personally intervened in the discussions on the refugee cap to ensure that only the costs — not any fiscal benefit — of the program were considered, according to two people familiar with the talks.

In other words, Miller applied his very well known racism to policy for refugees. And Trump allowed it.

The thing is, the White House is supposed to justify its intent to reduce the number of refugees the US admits. And so far, their justification not only is false, but it also suppresses the truth.
