DAY 228: Russia bought ads on Facebook to influence the US election

The Washington Post reports that hundreds of Facebook accounts based in Russia purchased political ads to try to influence the 2016 US election.

From the WP article:

Representatives of Facebook told congressional investigators Wednesday that it has discovered it sold ads during the U.S. presidential election to a shadowy Russian company seeking to target voters, according to several people familiar with the company’s findings.

Facebook officials reported that they traced the ad sales, totaling $100,000, to a Russian “troll farm” with a history of pushing pro-Kremlin propaganda, these people said.

To make it even worse, the ads pushed racist and xenophobic propaganda. Yes, the type of garbage Republicans use.

Should Robert Mueller find a link between the Trump campaign and those ads, Trump could be in deep trouble, as it is a federal offense to accept anything of value from a foreigner for a political campaign.

Now let's see if Russia denies the evidence and Russia's puppet Trump does the same.
