In other words, Trump knew he was going to be shown to be a loser for failing to repeal Obamacare. So apparently he used his transphobia to distract people from his legislative failure.
And apparently Trump didn't want to answer questions about it. In fact, when the press was asking Sarah Sanders for some answers, she threatened the reporters with "calling it a day":

That's how half-assed and poorly-thought Trump's tactics are. He did get to distract some people from the Trumpcare failure, though.
