DAY 172: Email to Trump Jr. said Russian government was helping Trump

The New York Times published the actual email Donald Trump Jr. received with a request to meet with a Russian lawyer who was supposed to give the Trump campaign information against Hillary Clinton. The email said that was part of an effort by the Russian government to help Trump. Donald Trump Jr.'s response? "I love it."

From the NYT article:

The documents “would incriminate Hillary and her dealings with Russia and would be very useful to your father,” read the email, written by a trusted intermediary, who added, “This is obviously very high level and sensitive information but is part of Russia and its government’s support for Mr. Trump.”

And that's not all. In a subsequent email, the contact Donald Trump Jr. received the information of the meeting from proposed to arrange a meeting with a “Russian government attorney.”

So Donald Trump Jr. knew the Russian government was meddling in the 2016 election. Plus Jared Kushner and Paul Manafort got copies of the entire email chain between Donald Trump Jr. and the contact who set up the meeting, suggesting they also knew this was a meeting with a Russian government lawyer.

And once again Donald Trump didn't tweet anything about it. One has to wonder if he's keeping quiet because his lawyer told him to be quiet. Instead, he told Sarah Huckabee Sanders to read the following statement:

“My son is a high-quality person, and I applaud his transparency.”

There is no transparency, of course, Donald Trump Jr. released the emails himself only after he learned the New York Times was about to publish them. And in his first response to the story, he claimed he mainly talked about the Russian adoption program with the lawyer.

Funny, though, how Trump tried to change the subject on Twitter with attacks against the Democrats and retweets from Fox News all over the place. But in the end, the attention is still on the fact that the Trump campaign AT LEAST didn't mind colluding with the Russian government.
