DAY 166: Poll shows more Americans trust CNN than Donald Trump

According to a new poll by Survey Monkey, published by Axios, more American trust CNN than Donald Trump.

The poll shows 50% of Americans trust CNN, while only 43% trust Donald Trump. 7% said they didn't know.

By political affiliation, 89% of Republicans trust Trump more than CNN, while 9% trust CNN more. Only 5% of Democrats trust Trump more and 91% trust CNN more. Among independent voters, 55% trust CNN and 40% trust Trump.

And there's more: paired against newspapers such as The Washington Post and The New York Times, Americans trus the newspapers more than Trump by 9 points. And paired against TV networks such as ABC, CBS and NBC, the American public trusts TV networks moe by a margin of 11 points.

This in spite of Trump's constant efforts to attack the media.

And that's not all. 33% of Republicans say they only get their news from Fox News, meaning two thirds watch other news outlets. Additionally, 64% of all adults disapprove of Trump's use of Twitter, including 38% of Republicans, with 47% of adults describing Trump's tweets as undignified and only 7% presidential.

Still, in regards to Twitter Trump is not making his base reject him, as most Republicans approve them. However, Trump's Twitter use is definitely pushing away independent voters, with two thirds rejecting his Twitter use.

Which means Trump is not even trying to be a president for all Americans, but only for his base.

That may keep most of his voters for 2018 and 2020, but it may also motivate liberal voters who didn't vote in 2016 to vote against Trump simply out of disgust.
