DAY 212: Republicans have paid Trump's businesses $1.3 million

The next time Donald Trump brags about him donating his salary as president to some government department, aside from pointing out to the fact that Trump probably cut funding to that department by a lot more, consider the following: The Republican party has spent $1.3 million paying to Trump businesses.

That's right. According to The Washington Post, Republican committees have spent that much money on Trump businesses. Here's a quote from that article:

The nearly $1.3 million spent by Republican political committees at Trump entities in 2017 has helped boost his company at a time when business is falling off at some core properties. Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s private club in Palm Beach, Fla., lost at least 10 of the 16 galas or dinner events it had been scheduled to host next winter in the wake of Trump’s controversial response to a white nationalist rally in Charlottesville.

An American president makes $400,000 a year. That means Trump has already made the equivalent of nearly 3 years of salary in money from the Republicans in a mere 6 months. If the trend continues, Trump will make the equivalent of 26 years of a president's salary in just 4 years.

Subtract to that the salary Trump is donating and Trump will make 22 years of a president's salary in money from the Republican party in 4 years.

So no, Trump is not being generous by donating his salary. He's getting it back over 5 times via the Republicans.
