DAY 283: John Kelly justifies Robert E. Lee and thus slavery

Donald Trump's Chief of Staff, John Kelly, justified confederate general -and traitor- Robert E. Lee and, as a result, Kelly also justified slavery.

According to The New York Times, Kelly called Robert E. Lee “an honorable man who gave up his country to fight for his state.” He also claimed that “the lack of an ability to compromise led to the Civil War.”

Which is a monstrous lie.

Lee was not honorable. He betrayed his country in order to preserve slavery, which was what "his state" wanted; To keep black people enslaved.

And there is no possible compromise on slavery. Either you have slavery or you don't. Lee and the South wanted slavery. You can't ask people to compromise on slavery.

What truly boggles the mind is the fact that Kelly is a retired general. Is he saying he would've betrayed the United States just to side with a state that wanted slavery?

Truly disgusting, as everything else in the Trump administration.
