Number one, Tillerson denied wanting to resign, but he didn't deny that he called Trump a moron.
Number two, Trump is not a reliable source to verify anything with because he's a liar. He only tells the truth when he's caught off guard and wants to brag about something clearly bad (for example, during the Lester Holt interview). So there's no point in verifying anything with Trump.
Besides, the fact that Trump is telling the media they should verify with him, sounds more like something a dictator would say.
