DAY 214: Trump sinks the Dollar because of Phoenix speech

As a result of his threats to shut down the government in order to build his border wall during his speech at a rally in Phoenix, Arizona, Donald Trump ended up sinking the value of the dollar when measured against gold and the Yen.

According to CNBC, the price of gold and the Yen jumped following his speech.

The safe-haven Japanese yen and gold gained ground after President Donald Trump threatened a government shutdown if he doesn't get funding for a proposed border wall with Mexico.

"If we have to close down our government, we're building that wall," Trump said at a rally in Arizona.

Which means that Trump's asinine border wall proposal is now effectively making Americans poorer, as their money is worth less than before Trump came to office.

Is that making America great again?

PS: As this Twitter user correctly points out, didn't Trump say Mexico would pay for the wall? Then why does he want American taxpayers, via Congress, to pay for the wall?
