DAY 296: Donald Trump Jr. was in contact with WikiLeaks during the 2016 campaign

The Atlantic magazine revealed today Donald Trump Jr. exchanged direct messages with WikiLeaks via Twitter. The messages were initiated by WikiLeaks and contained information intended to help the Trump campaign. From the Atlantic article:

Just before the stroke of midnight on September 20, 2016, at the height of last year’s presidential election, the Wikileaks Twitter account sent a private direct message to Donald Trump Jr., the Republican nominee’s oldest son and campaign surrogate. “A PAC run anti-Trump site putintrump.org is about to launch,” Wikileaks wrote. “The PAC is a recycled pro-Iraq war PAC. We have guessed the password. It is ‘putintrump.’ See ‘About’ for who is behind it. Any comments?” (The site, which has since become a joint project with Mother Jones, was founded by Rob Glaser, a tech entrepreneur, and was funded by Progress for USA Political Action Committee.)

The next morning, about 12 hours later, Trump Jr. responded to Wikileaks. “Off the record I don’t know who that is, but I’ll ask around,” he wrote on September 21, 2016. “Thanks.”

The Nixon library doesn't want Nixon to be compared with Donald Trump

The Nixon Library posted a tweet today subtly asking people not to compare Donald Trump with Richard Nixon, as Nixon never fired an FBI Director:

The tweet was posted after several people have been comparing Donald Trump with Nixon for firing FBI Director James Comey.

Nixon didn't fire the FBI director when he was president, but he did fire his Attorney General, his Deputy Attorney General and the person in charge of the Watergate investigation.

So why the comparison with Nixon? Because Nixon was the previous president who had fired people who were investigating wrongdoings by the current administration. Comey was investigating the dealings between Russia and the Trump campaign in 2016.

In other words, Just as Nixon's firings were seen as a cover-up and an act of obstruction of justice, so is Comey's firing been seen by many as an attempt at a cover-up and obstruction of justice.

But apparently Trump is too low for Nixon Library standards.

UPDATE: Apparently the Nixon Library tweet angered Trump. According to The New York Times, the next day after the tweet, the Trump administration, through the National Archives and Records Administration, said the tweet was "inappropriate." In other words, Trump got angry because of the Tweet making Trump look worse than Nixon.

Sean Spicer technically admits Donald Trump is a dictator

CNCB social lead Steve Koapck noticed something today: Back in December Sean Spicer claimed that only dictators would prohibit access to the press. But today, Spicer did not allow reporters from The New York Times, CNN and Politico to attend his press briefing:

DAY 1: Few people went to Donald Trump's inauguration, then he lied about it

DAY 1

Trump used photo from Obama's inauguration for his @POTUS Twitter account.

In order to try to convince people that his inauguration was flooded with people, the Trump administration used a photo of many people waving american flgs in front of the Capitol as the background image for the Twitter account for the President of the United States (@POTUS).

The thing is, the stock photo from Getty Images was taken at tha 2009 inauguration of President Barack Obama (see: https://twitter.com/kylebuchanan/status/822492155809656833).
